Bounce Rate is the percentage of single interaction visits to your website. Typically, a visitor who only views a single page before leaving. A high bounce rate means your website is not performing well. A visitor should be spend time on the website and visit multiple pages before leaving.
Bounce rate measurement is subjective, but consider the following as guidelines
- 26 – 40% = Excellent
- 41 – 55% = Average
- 56 – 70% = Higher than average
- > 70% = disappointing
When looking at your bounce rate also look at the pageviews. You want > 1 page viewed during any session. The number shown is an average of sessions tracked over the designated period. Viewing the two numbers together will give you a better indication of your site performance.
